About Us

After being closed for over a year, Forrest Monk and myself (Sara Zahn) have lovingly restored the Hotel Jeffery, hoping to create an environment that will give visitors a sense of what the hotel was like 160 years ago.  It was a lot more work than anticipated just in cleaning the dirt and debris that was left behind from years of neglect.

The towns people are warm and friendly and have tried to create an authentic old west environment, helping keep the town true to it's origins.  Many local residents have lived here all their lives as did their parents, grandparents and great grandparents.  This makes for a town truly unique in America, where people actually know your name and greet you every day.  We love this town and everyone in it and we  hope the people of Coulterville will feel that the Hotel Jeffery is their hotel, not just ours.
